I have to say that around 2000-2001 I got pretty decent with GIMP. Or at least I thought so; like I said, I tend to dabble around with things until I impress myself with my own work, and then I forget about them. With GIMP this pretty much meant learning how to use gradients and the ever-popular marble-effect that I found by reading some tutorials.
Behold my first wallpaper creation, which I titled simply gimp-3dabstract:

Yeah, it's the kind of thing that could be done better if I was actually using 3D rendering software instead of translating 2D images to fake 3D perspective. But I thought it was nifty.
Once I figured out the marble-effect looked neat (and by "neat" I mean "shiny"), I had to abuse it. I suppose there are worse effects to overuse, like the lens flare.
Oh wait, my version of the marble effect included a subtle lens flare, so I guess I'm guilty of the sin of lens flare obsession as well. Anyway, behold my also-unfortunately-titled gimp-marbleart:

Hooray! Gradients and shiny marbles! Yeah, I'm pretty much a one-trick pony as far as GIMP goes.

Next up: sketches. Because I apparently think I can draw.
